STADE DE LA BEAUJOIRE, NANTES
How to get there:
If you arrive at Nantes Atlantique Airport there is a shuttle bus that takes you all the way
into town. On the other hand to make your way to the Stade de la Beaujoire you need to
jump on the C6 bus and stop off at Batignolles just a few minutes walk to the ground.
Where the rugby’s happening:
The Stade de la Beaujoire is the home of the FC Nantes and was opened back in 1984. It has
a capacity of 37 473 people and held one of RWC’s most exciting encounters ever when Fiji
defeated Wales 38-34 to qualify for the quarter finals in 2007.
Where to get some beers:
Whilst you’re in Brittany, cocktail bar Le Lobo is a lovely place to grab some cocktails on rue
Leon Blum. And for something a bit different you could head over to Zygoma for some live
music on rue des Olivette’s.
What to visit whilst I’m there:
You have to grab yourself a “galette saucisson” and cider, a local tradition that is available
everywhere in town. For more of a cultural fix, you can go and visit the Brittany’s dukes’
castle that is now a museum with multimedia exhibits and a lovely little visit.
