Macron, despite its youth, is one of the fastest-growing sportswear brands in Europe. Expansion is engrained in its history -- starting as a distributor of American sporting equipment, Macron has quickly grown to be a major manufacturer for professional and recreational sportswear and provides kit for hundreds of teams across all kinds of play. Macron’s commitment to growth extends to the players it supports, both on and off the field.
1971 Macron is founded in Bologna as a distributor of American baseball equipment in Italy. Macron’s clientele starts as entirely Italian but eventually spreads throughout all of Europe and then the globe.
1974 Macron acquires Record Sports and begins providing kit for professional volleyball, basketball, and baseball in addition to distribution.
1994 Macron undergoes a major expansion.
2001 Macron signs its first contract to provide kit for a professional football team, with Bologna Football Club.
2005 Macron begins licensing sportswear outside of Italy.
2007 Macron begins producing rugby and handball apparel.
2010 The first Macron storefronts launch as well as Macron’s official website

2012 Macron expands its catalogue, launching its athleisure collection.
2013 Macron signs with Scottish Rugby Union, its first sponsorship with a national team.
2014 Macron signs a contract with the Bolton Wanderers -- the company provides the team’s kit and their home stadium is renamed Macron Stadium.
2015 The company launches its running line.
2016 Macron signs its first sponsorship with a national football team, partnering with Albania. The team plays in the European Championship this same year, leading to a record in sales for Macron.
2018 The European Union of Football Associations chooses Macron as the kit supplier for the smaller federations within the union. Additionally, this same year Macron updates its “Macron Hero” and signs with Canadian Premier League.
