Revolutionary Mouthguard Provides Better Protection
SISU™Mouthguard Provides ‘More Protection and Less Mouthguard’
A revolutionary mouthguard is making the decision whether to wear mouthguard easier for rugby players. The custom fitting SISU™ mouthguard is stronger, more comfortable, and most importantly is easy to wear as it allows more freedom to talk, breathe, and drink while wearing.
Simply put, there are no distractions to your game while wearing the SISU™ mouthguard and only the added benefit of protection from dental injuries that can occur in a contact sport.
The most noticeable feature of the SISU™ mouthguard are the perforations over the entire guard. The perforations oddly enough strengthen the guard. The perforations along with the Diffusix™ technology and special ‘crumple zones’ help absorb and diffuse the energy from an impact over larger areas and away from your teeth.
“The perforations in the SISU™ mouthguard act similar to the trusses on a bridge, allowing the structure to flex when an impact occurs,” Johannes Schwank, PhD explained on the SISU™ website.
The perforations also improve the air flow to aid breathing and allow players to take in fluids more easily. The mouthguard is amazingly thin. At only 1.6 mm it is thinner than most mouthguards players have seen but protects 30% more protection than traditional brands and has 8x more tensile strength than the standard EVA mouthguard. The SISU™ mouthguard only takes 2 minutes to customize and can be re-molded up to 20 times. And the mouthguard can be molded to provide protection for players with orthodontic treatments.

SISU™ Mouthguard Player Review
The SISU™ Mouthguard is one of the newest products at World Rugby Shop and it makes some bold claims for being one of (if not) the best mouth guards on the market saying it ‘outperforms the competition.’ We thought we would have one of the rugby players in the office give it a test run and review it to give our customers an idea on how it performs.
The guard arrives completely flat which is an unusual sight. The plastic is also very hard. That said, it is a very easy and forgiving process to mold into place. Unlike many other mouthguards, you can’t really over boil it and it can be re-boiled up to 20 times in case you don’t get the fit you like on the first attempt. No issue with accidentally ruining a $25 investment.
In terms of fit, believe the hype. Extremely slim with an incredibly molded fit. Will not come out even if you use your tongue intentionally to do so. You have to literally pry it off. You can talk easily, drink out of normal bottles, and breathe completely normally.
The only slight issue with the guards is they can almost be too form fitting, particularly around the gums. After a short break from playing over the holidays and not wearing the guard, the mouthguard contracted ever so slightly allowing it to rub some on the gums. It is, however, easy enough to bend the edges back the small amount needed to make them comfortable again.
“In over 18 years of contact sports including rugby, football, wrestling, and jiu jitsu I have never had a mouthpiece this comfortable and effective,” World Rugby Shop’s Geoff Glenn said after testing the mouthguard. “I’ve had the very bad habit of simply not wearing a mouthpiece most of the time due to poor fit and breathing encumbrance. I was skeptical the SISU would be any different, but I can honestly say it made me a true believer. I got my 7 year old son one for his first mouthpiece and he thought it was so comfortable and ‘cool’ that he wore it around the house all day. A fantastic product.”
